Not that I mind Russia, Russians or Russian, quite the opposite - it just bugs me that there's so much interesting text on here that I can't get at the contents of. So far I've found at least two communities that I would really love to be able to read on here - only I can't, because even if I could decipher Kyrillian letters without having to look up half of them all the time, I still don't get anything much out of the content.
Clearly, I need to learn to at least read a little Russian. They seem to have so much fun on Livejournal, and they share so many of my interests!
In other news, the first snow came today - or, rather, the first snow that stayed on the ground for more than a couple of hours came today. Still has it's charm, but I'm definitely tired of walking to the subway station with cold and wet feet already. I need a warm and stylish pair of rubber boots.

The thing that worries me is the constant exodus to facebook and the like. Basically one thing makes LJ great...the friends page. One click and I can see what all my friends are up to. The problem is, more than half of them never post here any more. Ah well, I'm a cranky old luddite and I will likely remain here long after the inevitable, simply because I have so much of my life invested in these electronic pages.

The communities are what makes LJ stand out the most for me, that's what made me get a new account, but the friends page is a great thing, too.
I hate Facebook, but I capitulated and got an account because I have friends who post photos and the like there and nowhere else. The intention was to fly under the radar and only use it to keep track of them, but I have to admit (grudgingly) that it's actually very useful for getting club and scene information too, as dreadful as it is.
