Was out on my own last night, Daniel threw a Tinitus club night and A stayed at home, being a responsible father. I had fun, there was great music, plenty of old acquaintances and a live act called Spark!, a new old school EBM band who did their first gig ever - did it quite impressively, I must say. Good stage nerves on those guys, they pulled off a great performance, and they were very young, and very sweet. They liked my outfit, both of them were enthusiastic about my garrison cap and I kind of felt like pinching their cheeks. Cute.
There's this small explosion of new bands playing quite old school-sounding EBM happening right now, many of them with Swedish lyrics, which is fun, has been very unusual in this part of the genre (there have been plenty of Swedish synthpop bands singing in Swedish over the years, though), and it works surprisingly well. There are several rather humorous projects among them - seems we've finally developed a sense of humor about the tired old clichés of the genre, our constant hankering after another That Total Age and stopped being embarrassed about it. It's about time, too.
I was told that I look younger than my years. Don't know quite how to take that, I just kept wondering if it means that I look underage or something - when do you begin to be flattered by it? Clearly not at 29. I'll re-evaluate that in five years or so.
My ears are still ringing. May post a photo or two later.
